Where Every Gift Becomes Action

From emergency relief to summer camps, every program we run is rooted in the sacred obligation to care for one another.

Summer Camps

Camp Eitz Chaim

Wholesome fun, fresh air, friendships — Shabbos, kashrus, yiddishkeit, oxygen for the year.

Each summer, 2,500 Jewish children and teens across the former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, and beyond spend three transformative weeks at Camp Eitz Chaim. For many, it is the first time they daven, keep kosher, or celebrate Shabbos. For all of them, it is a memory that lasts a lifetime.

Jewish children and teens in the FSU are growing up with the aftereffects of communism. Broken families, dysfunction, and difficult family dynamics are the norm. Camp provides a connection — often everlasting friendships — with counselors from America and Israel, a chance to be in a wholesome, healthy Jewish environment.

Stories from Camp

Liza, age 11, begged for her own siddur — she wanted it above any of the prizes and candies camp gives out. Because she needs a siddur to be able to continue to daven at home.

Michael from Kaliningrad came to camp as a camper 5 years ago, then came back before heading off to yeshiva in Yerushalayim. He told us that Camp Eitz Chaim played a major role in his decision to attend.

Sura grew up in camp, became frum in camp, and now — on her own, with tremendous strength — lives a frum life, despite the fact that her family is not.

Beata decided in grade 6 that after what she had learned in Eitz Chaim, she could no longer be in a mixed school. She applied to the Chabad school on her own. Today her entire family is frum.
